New Childcare standard published

A revised version of the European test method standard for cots has been published. BS EN 716-2: 2017 Furniture — Children's cots and folding cots for domestic use. Part 2 Test Methods replaces the previous 2008 version (amended in 2013) with immediate effect.

​New Childcare standard published - Highchairs

A new European Standard for children’s highchairs has been published. BS EN 14988: 2017 Children’s Highchairs. Requirements and test methods replaces the previous standards, BS EN 14988-1; 2006 + A1: 2012 and BS EN 14988-2; 2006 + A1: 2012, with immediate effect.

​Urgent update – Motorised furniture

FIRA can announce that a new guide to the EU machinery directive was issued in July 2017. This will have a major impact on all motorised domestic furniture such as recliner chairs, rise-recliner chairs, electrically adjustable beds, height adjustable desks and electrically actuated kitchen furniture.

​New standard for kitchen furniture published

FIRA can announce that a new standard for kitchen furniture has been published. BS 6222-3: 2017 Domestic kitchen equipment. Part 3 Performance requirements for durability of surface finishing and adhesion of surfacing and edging materials. Specification replaces the 1999 version with immediate effect.
