The Baby Products Association (BPA) plays an active role in the development of product technical standards as well as providing support and specialist services to its members. Their Technical Committee is made up of manufacturers, retailers and other organisations including the Furniture Industry Research Association who have an interest in the safety of childcare products.

DFS gain further ‘Certified Company’ status under upholstery compliance scheme

Furniture manufacturers, DFS Furniture Company Ltd, has achieved ‘Certified Company’ status under the Furniture Industry Research Association’s recently launched ‘Compliance Scheme for the Fire Performance of Upholstered Furniture’. This follows on from DFS’s retail arm being confirmed as a Certified Company back in February 2018.

FEMB Technical committee meeting - harmonising environmental and sustainability schemes

On 24th April 2018 FIRA attended the latest FEMB technical committee meeting, the notes of which are available for members. The committee are responsible for the development of the FEMB Level scheme which has sought to start the process of harmonising the numerous environmental and sustainability schemes for office and non-domestic furniture by using existing materials to develop a sustainability certification scheme of its own for Europe.
