Upholstered furniture supplied to ROI must now meet Irish regulations, not UK regulations
We have now been advised by the Irish Government Department for Enterprise, Trade and Employment that following conversations with the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, it is no longer possible for UK Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended) to be recognised as complying with the Irish Regulations SI 316/1995 as we are no longer a member state of the European Union.
This is a change in advice previously received and must be implemented with immediate effect. Our service provider, FIRA International can help with testing requirements and advice on compliance.
There are some slight differences between the UK and Irish Regulations that you need to be aware of and you may need to take action to ensure that you are in compliance with the Irish requirements. The differences that have been identified are as follows:
