Update on EN 1335-1: 2020 Office work chair – Dimensions -determination of dimensions
This standard was published by CEN 207 on 22 April 2020. It was adopted/published by BSI in May 2020 and older version of EN 1335-1; 2000 was withdrawn at the same time.
The agreement within CEN was that the old standard (2000 version) would still be valid for 12 months from the CEN date of publication. In other words, both old (2000 version) and the new (2020 version) of EN 1335-1 would exist side by side until 30 April 2021. As BSI withdrew the old standard Levent Caglar contacted BSI project manager who is responsible for this standard asking the removal of “withdrawn state” for the old (2000) version of EN 1335-1. Levent Caglar also pointed out to the BSI manager that the 2020 version on EN 1335-1 did not have a stated date of withdrawal for the old standard even though it was agreed in CEN that it would be 12 months after the CEN publication date. This is now with the CEN TC 207 secretariat who is going to correct this anomaly and amend the text in the standard. BSI has already updated their website showing that EN 1335-1:2000 (old version) is still current. It is going to be current alongside the new version (2020) of EN 1335-1 until 30 April 2021.
