Standards meeting update - Sep - 2016
CEN TC207 WG9, the European Standards committee responsible for developing test method standards, and chaired by FIRA’s Phil Reynolds, recently met in Paris. The main purpose of the meeting was to prepare the final responses to questions raised during the development of a revision to the standard EN 1022 Furniture – Seating – Determination of stability.
The committee resolved all comments, but has decided to combine all test methods for determining stability of seating into one set of methods. This may have an impact on suppliers of swivelling seats in the domestic market.
In addition the committee started work on a Technical Report looking at attempting to harmonise the requirements for entrapment across the various furniture standards.
