Standards meeting report – Test methods for furniture - Nov - 2019
FIRA’s Phil Reynolds recently chaired a meeting of CEN TC207 WG9, the European Committee tasked with producing test method standards, at CATAS newly re-opened facility in Udine, Italy.
A number of issues were discussed including:
- Motorised furniture
- Standardising test foams and mattresses
- A draft rational for increasing the load of seating users above 110 kg
- A draft standard for suspended seating
- Problems noted with the recently published standard EN 1022 – Stability of seating
The key outcome of the meeting was that it was agreed to set up a new Task Group within CEN TC207 WG9 to focus on motorised furniture issues.
