Standards meeting report – Test methods for furniture - Mar - 2020

The committee responsible for producing European test methods standards, CEN TC207 WG9, chaired by FIRA’s Phil Reynolds, recently held a video conference to progress development of standards. The committee worked on two main projects:
- Developing a technical report and rationale to explain how to test (and therefore certify) seating products used by people weighing in excess of 110kg – the weight normally used in European Standards
- Reviewing issues that have been noted when testing to the recently published standard – EN 1022: 2018 Furniture. Seating. Determination of stability.
There were no final outcomes for either documents, however Members of the Research Association can read a full meeting report below.
