Standards meeting report – Suspended seating workshop

CEN TC207 WG9, the committee with the responsibility for developing European test method standards, recently held a workshop to look at possible test methods for suspended seating, including hammocks, swing seats, egg chairs etc.
Currently official methods for assessing these products are not available.
Recommendations from the workshop were that CEN TC207 WG9 should start developing a standard for suspended seating.
Broadly these should be split into three main categories:
- Hammocks
- Seating suspended from a single point (e.g. egg chairs)
- Seating suspended from multiple points (e.g. swing seats)
- Recommendations on test methods were suggested.
