Standards meeting report – outdoor furniture
A meeting of CEN TC2097 WG4, the European committee tasked with producing standards for outdoor furniture was recently held in Paris.
The committee discussed all three main standards for outdoor furniture (EN 581 Parts 1, 2 and 3). Key at the meeting was a decision to send a revised text of EN 581-2 Outdoor furniture. Seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use. Mechanical safety requirements and test methods for seating for enquiry as a new version of the standard. The main change was to align the stability requirements in the document with those in the newly published standard EN 1022: 2018 Furniture. Seating. Determination of stability.
The committee also discussed street furniture and outdoor storage items.
