Standards Meeting Report – domestic furniture
A meeting of CEN TC 207 WG1, the committee responsible for developing European Standards for domestic furniture was recently held in Nuremburg.
The discussions across two days were wide ranging, with a particular emphasis on electrical powered furniture.
The key decision was to ask for a pre-work item to officially start work on an amendment to EN 14749, the safety standard or domestic storage furniture, to improve the stability requirements or TV furniture following a number of safety incidents. It was also agreed to speed the development of the amendment up by appointing an editorial committee comprising two of FIRA International’s team.
