Standards Meeting Report - Domestic Furniture

A meeting was recently held in Nuremberg of CEN TC207 WG1 – the European Standards committee responsible for developing standards for domestic furniture.
The main area discussed were potential issues with the stability of storage furniture, and TV stands in particular. It was agreed that this area needs more work and therefore a workshop would be held in January to look at the issues and potential solutions.
Also discussed was the potential to restart work on revising EN 1725, the safety standard for beds and the impact of the change in guidance for the Machinery Directive and how it affects domestic furniture.
