Standards meeting Update - Jan - 2018
A meeting was recently held in London of BSI Technical Committee FW/002 regarding British Standard BS 8474: 2013 and electrically actuated furniture such as rise/recline seating.
This followed in quick succession to a recent meeting held at FIRA International in November of last year and saw representatives from BEIS and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) participate in in-depth discussions on the Machinery Directive and other existing EU Regulations, specifically in relation to powered furniture and a potential revision to BS 8474.
The publication of general safety guidelines for finger entrapment in furniture prCEN/TR/17202 was also confirmed.
