All Party Parliamentary Furniture Industry Group Appoints New Chair

The inaugural meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Furniture Industry Group (APPFIG) took place at the House of Commons on March 19th. With the new government established, the group was officially reformed, and Adam Thompson, the Member of Parliament for Erewash, was appointed as the new Chair.

The other elected officers of the group are:

  • Gregg Smith, Conservative MP for Mid Buckinghamshire
  • Sarah Smith, Labour MP for Hyndburn
  • Rt Hon. the Baroness Taylor of Bolton

Levent Caglar represented the Furniture Industry Research Association at the meeting and provided a brief update regarding the government's response to the consultation on the 'Fire Safety of Domestic Upholstered Furniture Regulations.'

  • The British Furniture Confederation's recently launched 'Plan for Growth'
  • The Circular Economy
  • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Packaging
  • Copyright and Intellectual Property Consultation
  • Product Regulation and Metrology Bill [HL]
