New Standards for children’s furniture published
Two revised standards for children’s furniture have been published by the Furniture Industry Research Association in conjunction with the Furniture Retail Quality Group (FRQG), which comprises representatives from major retailers of furniture in the UK.
Children's Domestic Furniture Industry Standard FIRA-FRQG C001 2021
This standard replaces FIRA/FRQG C001: 2016 which has now been withdrawn. Compared to the previous version the main changes are:
- Update of references to other British and European Standards
- Improvement in the wording of the requirements for edges and corners
- The ability for manufacturers/suppliers to provide 3rd party verification for certain requirements
- New requirements for finger entrapment and shear and squeeze points.
Children’s Domestic Tables and Desks: Industry Standard FIRA-FRQG C003 2021
This standard replaces FIRA/FRQG C003: 2016 which has now been withdrawn. Compared to the previous version the main changes are:
- Removal of requirements for timber moisture
- Addition of specified mass for horizontal static and durability test
- Update of references to other British and European Standards
- Update of references to other FRQG documents.
