New Standard for office furniture published
BSI have recently published a new European standard for office seating - BS EN 1335-1 Office Furniture. Office work chair. Part 1 Dimensions – Determination of dimensions. The standard helps manufacturers of office seating to design office chairs that will be suitable for use by a broad range of users by using ergonomic principles and anthropometric data. The document replaces the 2000 version of the standard which will be withdrawn.
The main changes in this revised document are:
- A new method for measuring the dimensions of seating based on the International Standard, ISO 24496
- The introduction a new chair classification, Type Ax, designed to cover a wider range of users.
