New Flam Regs - OPSS Publish Policy Paper
OPSS has published a policy paper today that provides stakeholders with an important update on the next steps in the Government’s review of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988.
The policy paper reflects on evidence received in response to the consultation on the new approach to the fire safety of domestic upholstered furniture launched by the previous Government in August 2023. It provides instructive commentary on all important issues, highlighting key proposals requiring further exploration and development in collaboration with stakeholders. It also sets out immediate action to amend the existing regulations.
Alongside the policy paper, they have also published a summary of responses submitted to the 2023 consultation.

Over the coming months, the
government will further engage with stakeholders on the key themes within the
policy paper before setting out final policy positions and clear timelines for
implementing new regulations.
