Meeting the requirements of the Irish Fire Safety Regulations
Following news on 23rd April, announcing that upholstered furniture supplied to ROI must now meet Irish regulations, not UK regulations, The British Furniture Confederation (BFC), British Retail Consortium (BRC) and UK Textile Laboratory Forum (UKTLF) are working together on guidance for the industry on the differences between the two sets of Regulations to help you understand what this might mean for members.
Whilst many of the requirements are the same in terms of the physical testing (fillings and interliner materials), your technical documentation should refer to the Irish Regulations.
A statement is available below to members of the Furniture Industry Research Association with further guidance and actions by the BFC, BRC and UKTLF.
If you need advice on testing please contact the experts at our service provider, FIRA International.
