FIRA publish Sustainability Challenges Guide for members
The Furniture Industry Research Association has published a new resource for members which provides guidance on ‘Sustainability Challenges and Opportunities in the Furniture Industry’.
Written by John Hubbard, Technical Specialist at FIRA International, the guide brings together the varied aspects of modern sustainability thinking which can then be applied to products or organisations across the furniture supply chain.
One of the important issues to recognise when talking about sustainability is that every organisation is unique and will each have its own sustainability stories. Identical products made of similar materials to a similar specification can have very different sustainability credentials when the material sourcing, manufacturing sites, transport, storage and end of life are taken into account.
This guide considers the specific areas of sustainability and highlights some possible options for demonstrating the steps an organisation can take to improve the sustainability of their product.
The ‘Sustainability Challenges and Opportunities in the Furniture Industry’ guide is available for members to access as part of their membership benefits.
Non-members can purchase a copy, priced at £125, via our online bookshop.
