ECHA consults on new additions to the SVHC list
The European chemicals agency (ECHA) has opened a consultation on eight possible new additions to the Substances of Very High Concern List (The Candidate List) under the REACH legislation.
Substances are included in the Candidate List whilst undergoing an evaluation as to whether they will be added to the Annex XIV authorisation list which effectively restricts their use and manufacture in the EU for non-authorised uses.
The consultation is only open until 23rd April 2021 and contributions from third countries are welcomed. The next decision about inclusion in the Candidate List is expected to be published in July 2021. There are currently 211 entries in the Candidate List of which 54 have been placed on the Authorisation List.
