DFS gain ‘Certified Company’ status under new fire compliance scheme
Furniture retailer DFS has gained ‘Certified Company’ status under the Furniture Industry Research Association’s (FIRA) new ‘Compliance Scheme for the Fire Performance of Upholstered Furniture’.
The scheme, which is voluntary and open to manufacturers, retailers and upholsterers of any size, aims to offer reassurance that a manufacturer, retailer, upholsterer or supplier of upholstered furniture has suitable processes and procedures in place to demonstrate due diligence compliance with the Furniture & Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations (FFFSR).
Speaking on their new Certified Company status Harvey Ellis, production director at DFS said: “As the UK’s leading sofa retailer, DFS already has extremely rigorous checks in place to ensure we’re compliant with the latest fire safety regulations for many years. So we’re delighted to have received this independent certification from the Furniture Industry Research Association as a testament to our robust testing procedures. I’m sure it’ll be a great reassurance to consumers as it reconfirms that the health and safety of our customers is of utmost importance to us. But it’s also a good testament to the hard work of our team who take an enormous amount of pride in making and selling top quality upholstered furniture.”
On Thursday 8 February the Research Association are hosting an event with Hertfordshire Trading Standards focusing on the new Compliance Scheme for those who may be interested in being part of the scheme. For further details and to reserve a place click here.
