Assured Advice on labelling
A key feature of FIRA's Compliance Scheme for the Fire Performance of Upholstered Furniture is the 'Assured Advice' element, which is provided by Hertfordshire Trading Standards. Any Assured Advice given as part of the scheme may be relied upon in the event of a difference in interpretation of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 by UK enforcement bodies.
The most recent request for Assured Advice under the scheme was regarding both the permanent and point of sale labelling of a modular product such as a corner unit consisting of multiple pieces, which can be both purchased and used as individual items, can it be confirmed:
- if each item of furniture requires a permanent label
- if each item of furniture requires a point of sale label
- if supplied in a single transaction, whether as one or more parts requires, only one permanent and one point of sale label.
