Assured Advice on 'fringe' or 'trim' materials
Certified companies of the Compliance Scheme for the Fire Performance of Upholstered Furniture can now see Assured Advice from Hertfordshire Trading Standards based on the following question:
In relation to what is commonly termed “fringe” or “trim” materials, commonly attached over upholstery or directly (no upholstery) to timber frames, can it be confirmed:
- if these materials would be considered to be a cover fabric and therefore fall within the scope of the Regulations and
- whether there is a particular size, length or coverage of these materials, for example if the fringe material was placed on the sides, arms or back of the sofa, which would then constitute the material being described as a cover fabric
