Advances in the substitution of Hazardous Flame Retardants In Home Textiles
FIRA recently attended a meeting in Brussels that outlined the scope of an EU funded project promoting research into reducing the negative impacts of flame retardants used in the textile industry by the adoption of “alternative” flame retardant treatments.
The LIFE-FLAREX project seeks to evaluate the potential benefits to the environment, human health and the safety of workers through the adoption of alternative flame retardants. Secondly the outcome of the research project will be to provide guidance to companies within the EU on which alternative flame retardants could be adopted for specific applications.
