Wood Based Materials Testing

FIRA undertakes a series of tests on raw materials used in the manufacture of furniture and related items. We have specific expertise in the testing of wood based and solid timber products.

Typical test regimes include the assessment of board quality (MDF and particleboard) including the analysis of properties such as internal bond strength, screw holding, grit content and dimensional stability.

FIRA’s suite of controlled temperature and humidity rooms are utilised to subject panel products to typical service conditions.

Factors such as resistance to bowing and distortion are critical to the satisfactory performance of panels in service use.

Analysis of samples combined with factory visits enable the team of experts to carry out invaluable production and post production defect analyses.
